The GEF NGO Network strongly supports the proposal by the Secretariat that GEF should adhere to the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness and the Accra Agenda.

We support the policy recommendations proposed to enable GEF to be fully in line with the Paris Declaration. We believe that this will promote greater country ownership, build more effective and inclusive partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders and development actors including civil society, and help achieve and account for development results.

We believe that the work by GEF to strengthen partnership with civil society, as well as the development of national business plans with broad stakeholder engagement is also very much in line with the Paris Declaration.

If the GEF adheres to the Paris Declaration, the GEF NGO Network would be happy to contribute to the work of the GEF Secretariat, the Evaluation Office and the Implementing Agencies to develop clear indicators specifically regarding country ownership and inclusiveness of the CSOs.
