Re: Call for Voting for RFP Election, Caribbean (download this letter)
Dear Colleagues,
As you all are aware that the Governance Sub Committee of the GEF NGO Network has initiated the elections for the position of Regional Focal Point (RFP) for your region. A communication was sent out to you on 6th May 2010 announcing the schedule for the ongoing election process. The filing of nominations for the post of RFP Caribbean was closed on 26th May 2010 as scheduled.
The Elections Task Force in mutual consultation with the Governance Subcommittee decided to postpone the voting until after the GEF Council meeting, because there was insufficient time available between the declaration of results and the GEF Council meeting, and as intimated to you through the letter dated 20th June sent by the Network’s Central Focal Point.
According to the new schedule, the Election Task Force is now initiating the voting phase for the RFP elections in your region. We have received two nominations (Suriname Conservation Foundation and Caribbean Forest Conservation Association) for the post of RFP in your region.
The Voting period will last from 19th July 2010 to 9th August 2010. You are requested to fill in the voting form with your updated details and send to us along with your vote.
The voting/election will be done via e-mail and/or fax and only one (1) vote per organization will be considered. The votes cast by the nominated organizations themselves, will also be considered valid. The voting forms must be sent to the dedicated email set up for the purpose with copies marked to all members of the Task Force listed below.
The dedicated emails for your region is
Election-Caribbean@gefngo.org
Members of the Election Task force
Jagdeesh Puppala, Chair : gefngo.elections@fes.org.in, ed@fes.org.in
Saro Legborsi Pyagbara: saropyagbara@gmail.com
Essam Nada: e.nada@aoye.org
You would receive automated acknowledgement of your vote from the system. The representative of the Chair, Elections Task Force, would also manually acknowledge the receipt of your vote.
The message / fax should clearly indicate the name and position of the person casting the vote on behalf of the voting organization, and the name of the organization in the list of candidates the organization is voting for. Please note that the validity of the votes sent from email addresses other than the official notified emails would be subject to verification. Please also be advised that the votes not marked to all the members of the Election Task Force would be rendered invalid.
The Elections Task Force will announce the results of the election process by 13th August 2010.
We look forward to your enthusiastic participation in the election process.
With regards,
Jagdeesh Puppala,
Chair, Governance, Membership and Elections Sub Committee
