NGOs desiring to be accredited to the GEF for purposes of receiving documentation, participating in NGO consultations, and attendance at Council meetings may currently apply to the GEF Secretariat for this purpose.

All applications must be signed by the Chief Executive Officer or an authorized senior official of the NGO, and must be accompanied by information on the organization's competence and relevance to the work of the GEF.

On the basis of the information provided, the CEO of the GEF will accredit any NGO that has fulfilled the above requirements

Discussions are currently underway for the Network itself to take over the procedure for acreditation and management of membership.
